Betlem – Paradise For Nature Lovers

Betlem is a small and peaceful village on the north-east coast of the island of Mallorca. It belongs to the municipality of Artà and is located at the end of the Bay of Alcudia in the northwest of the municipality. Betlem is particularly appreciated for its impressive, undeveloped natural landscape and the fantastic bathing bays. Many locals also enjoy this settlement as a summer resort.

Far away from the hustle and bustle

The village, which is hardly developed for tourism, is embedded in a spectacular mountain landscape. This landscape merges with the sea in the background to form a unique backdrop. Betlem is still unknown to many holidaymakers, so you can let your soul drift away here all year round.

Hiking and exploring

The area around Betlem is considered a real hiker’s paradise. There are many great hiking trails here, where you can discover more than just the flora and fauna of Mallorca.

The easy hiking trail to the “Cabo de Ferrutx” is particularly popular. This path starts at the end of the village. Past the small, hidden bay “Na Clara”, a path that is a little bumpy at the beginning leads along the coast. Afterwards it becomes easier. At the beginning, some pine trees provide pleasant shade, later the enormous rock walls on your right impress you. This magnificent play of colours of orange-red rock, deep blue water and the green splendour of plants enchants every nature lover.

Arriving at the “Cabo de Ferrutx”, a harbour of refuge with a stone jetty invites you to linger. Enjoy a small picnic, a refreshing bath or the impressive seabed while snorkelling. It’s worth it!

Ermita de Betlem

Another popular destination in the area is the ascent to the Ermita de Betlem, an old and nowadays no longer used monastery complex, located at about 280 metres altitude in the “Serres de LLevant” high above the village of Betlem. From here you can enjoy an impressive view of the surrounding area. On a clear day, you can even see the Cap de Formentor.

In the immediate vicinity

If you are looking for a change from the rather dreamy village of Betlem, you can quickly reach the neighbouring village of Colònia de Sant Pere in just 4 km by car or bicycle. Here you will find shopping facilities, bars, restaurants and everything else you need to live.
