Artà

Artà is an artistic and medieval village located in the northeast of the island of Mallorca. The municipality of Artà, part of the Llevant region, includes several surrounding villages. These are: Colònia de Sant Pere, Betlem and the settlements of Montferrutx, Sant Pere and s’Estanyol.

Castle complex “S’Almudaina d’Artà”

On arriving, you can already admire the castle complex of “S’Almudaina d’Artà” from the distance. It rises on the Puig de Sant Salvador high above the village. In the castle complex there is also the church of Sant Salvador. The ascent up to “Puig de Sant Salvador” is quite difficult due to the many steps. But once you reach the top, a fantastic panoramic view of the village and the surrounding area can be enjoyed.

Market and much more

Every Tuesday the weekly market is held at “Plaҫa del Conqueridor in Artà”. Here fresh fruit and vegetables from regional cultivation are offered. But also souvenirs, handicraft articles and much more can be bought and admired.

In the pedestrian zone there are many cozy street cafés, artists, designer and delicacy stores. Also, some recommendable restaurants and tapas bars invite you to enjoy typical Majorcan specialties.

Bathing possibilities

The beaches Cala Torta and Cala Mitjana are real insider tips. Both are located about 12 km from the center of the village. The crystal clear water and the fine sand sections invite you to swim, sunbathe and relax. Also, the untouched nature around Artà and especially the nature reserve “Península de Llevant” have a lot to offer. This area inspires by its variety of native plants and animals.

Artà enchants not only with its medieval charm, but also offers the possibility to experience both a historical and a modern side of Mallorca.
