Capdepera

Capdepera is a charming medieval village in the north-east of Mallorca. The village is the most northeastern point of the “Llevant” region. The municipality of Capdepera includes as surrounding villages Cala Ratjada, Cala Mesquida, Canyamel and Font de Sa Cala.

Culture in Capdepera

Capdepera has an authentic Mallorcan and medieval atmosphere and is best known for its castle. This is called “Castell de Capdepera” and originates from the 14th century. The castle is open for visits as well in summer as in winter. The fantastic view compensates for the ascent up to the “Puig de Capdepera”, which on some days is quite tiring.

Once a year, on every third weekend in May, the medieval market “Mercat Medieval” is held in and around the castle area. Let yourself be enchanted by music, dance, craftsmanship and all sorts of other attractions. Just take a step back in time to the Middle Ages.

Enjoying the culinary delights

Explore Capdepera with its many small alleys and typical Majorcan stone houses by foot. Afterwards, treat yourself to a refreshment in one of the special restaurants, for example at the “Plaça de l’Orient”. Once a week, every Wednesday, the small weekly market, where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables from local farmers, as well as all kinds of other Majorcan specialities and souvenirs, takes also place here.

Beaches and surroundings

Due to its altitude, Capdepera does not have its own beach, but benefits from 6 bathing beaches and numerous hidden coves. These are all within a radius of about 5 kilometres.

Especially popular is the long sandy beach “Cala Agulla” in the neighbour village Cala Ratjada, which is only 5 minutes by car. Here you can enjoy fine, white sand and fantastic turquoise blue water. But also, the “Cala Mesquida” enchants in the middle of the nature reserve with its fantastic dune landscape and invites you to swim and relax.
